Hydropower Station Lab

The Lab was established in 1950s and then expanded in 1998. The total construction area is about 2000m2, with fixed assets worth over 4 million RMB.The main equipment consists of seven systems: open water-circulating system, model machine units system, control system, simulating electrical load system, measuring system, monitoring control system, and water-course system. All the seven systems make up a whole physical simulation for a hydropower station under various operating conditions.
The main research work conducted in this hall includes hydraulic-mechanical-electrical joint transients and control of hydropower station, stability and characteristics of water level fluctuation in surge tank, hydraulic characteristics and design technique of sloping-ceiling tailrace tunnel, unsteady gas-liquid two-phase flow in fluid delivery system, as well as reverse water hammer in hydropower stations.
