The lab was built in 2000 with an area of about 7000m² and is installed with 20 water balance lysimetersand 2 weighted lysimeters. Each lysimeter has the dimensions of 2×2×3m³. Soil water content, temperature, soil electric conductivity, suction head, groundwater table, irrigation and drainage amount can be monitored and measured. The lysimeters are covered with a rain protection sheet 4 meters above the ground which can be controlled during rainfall. An automatic weather station was installed in the experimental station to collected weather data, including temperature, humid, wind speed, radiation and precipitation. Experiments related to water balance, water saving irrigation, solute transport in soils, crop water requirement, soil water movement parameter measurement, irrigation method and monitoring of crop development can be conducted in the station.
