Brief Introduction of Professor Shucai Li
Prof. Shucai Li, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is a leading scientist in disaster prevention and control of tunnelling and underground engineering. He is currently Vice President of Shandong University, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME), Chairman of the Underground Engineering Branch of CSRME, and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal “Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology”.
Prof. Li has long been engaged in the prevention and control of water and mud bursting hazards in tunneling and underground engineering. He has proposed and innovated the theory and methods for forecasting the adverse geological conditions during tunnel construction, revealed the mechanism of water and mud bursting hazards, and developed an advanced forecasting system for adverse geological conditions of tunnel rock boring machine and key technologies of high-pressure water flow sealing in underground engineering. His research outcomes are widely applied in various fields, including, but not limited to, railway, highway and hydraulic engineering, and have made prominent contributions to the disaster prevention and control of tunnelling and underground engineering.
He was a receipt of four Second Prizes of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, one Second Prize of the State Technological Invention Award, five First Prizes of Science and Technology at provincial and ministry levels, National Innovation Competition Award, Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award, and the Highest Award of Science and Technology of Shandong Province.
