Brief Introduction of Reporter
Ryan Winston is an Associate Professor at the Department of Food, Agriculture, and Biological Engineering as well as the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering at The Ohio State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the American Society of Civil Engineers and serves as the Associate Editor of《Sustainable Water in the Built Environment》.
His primary research focuses on urban rainwater runoff and hydrological water quality, as well as the effects of rainwater control. He has led several meetings on green infrastructure, spearheaded innovative rainwater management projects, and developed inspection and maintenance courses for rainwater control. During his visiting scholar period at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden, he studied permeable pavement and proposed requirements of bioretention medium adapted to cold climate. His research also includes river and drainage management, multi-scale field monitoring, quantification of ecosystem service functions, and economic solutions to environmental issues. His team’s research topics mainly involve the Columbus Blueprint’s green infrastructure project, green wharf, bioretention column structure and material research, acid mine drainage research, etc.
